Not to say your wrong, but a 1986 K30 should of come with a 6.2 (non turbo) diesel. The 6.5 turbo diesel did not start until 1988.
Either way both of those engines should have a 6 bolt flywheel and torque convertor. You could get a new 292 flywheel and using the old flywheel as a template, mark out where the other 3 bolt holes should be and drill them out.
I'm also currently building a 1986 D30 (ex military) with a SBC/4L80 & 205 with D60 front/14 Bolt FF with 4.56 gears. I have a 292 sitting in the corner that I was thinking of using instead of the SBC. So I'm defiantly following your build..
