My experience is with an AutoMeter tach, not the GM OEM, or the aftermarket copy.

Brian, Thanks for the feedback on the resistor/capacitor.
For the purpose of documenting for others, I'll start another thread on the Pertronix (since I'm going to put a little pic together on how I wire mine.)

But great info for those who have the tach and want to upgrade theirs (without having to wait for one from Brothers...which I'm beginning to think may be the issue based on Bad4wd' post
