I wish mine had been in a condition that would lend itself to just fixing a driving. I’d actually like it to look 50 years old, but unfortunately it’s firewall and windshield frame were Swiss cheese from being parked under a tree most of its life. I figured if I was going to fix that, I may as well make it all look new again. If I had one that looked like your bottom pic I would not restore it.
