Definitely a 4-71- 71's had the rocker cover hold downs in the center of the rocker cover, 53's used machine 4 machine screws around the perimeter of the rocker cover. You'll have to confirm that it is the correct rotation for what you're putting it in, also what side the blower and exhaust should be on. The governor will probably need to be changed and several parts of the cooling system. There are some very helpful guys on the Detroit Diesel Enthusiast FB group.
