Re: Aftermarket high hump replacement?

AMD was the one I was looking at. Seems good.

I found one from a trashed 68, so it’s original. I will say, I don’t know what the differences are from 68 to my 72 (most will say “none”), but the hump didn't fit my 72 as well at the firewall sloped side as it did the 68. I had a decent gap at the firewall, which would have taken thick sealer to really work well. The 68 fit tight there. Fortunately I took some of the 68 Firewall/floor with me and patched it in so it looks like a great fit. I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed any variances between years, but I did, and I’m certain the pan is placed where it should be (hard to mess up, fits like a glove on the floor). It’s seems like I’ve seen some people’s hump transplants that look like they may have extra sealer there too. It would’ve been ok, but I wanted a tighter fit.

So, having said that, my experience with factory wasn’t a “perfect” fit. I‘d expect AMD to work fine.
