I am in the process of freshening mine up and installing them on the '72 C30. I didn't see a reference on this in the thread but I noticed on mine the studs on the ends of the elbows were different lengths. Mirror ends were shorter than the bracket ends.

This is a work truck so I am not rebuilding with new parts but just cleaning up what is there.....

My originals are the same. I believe the longer studs are necessary due to having to pass through 2 thicknesses of the flattened mounting bracket legs versus the thinner mirror bracket. It would make sense since the acorn nuts have limited depth.
