There are guys on this forum that know a hell of a lot more about front sheet metal and grills. I think if you had bought a complete '68 front end for $300 you could have put it back together as a '68. From what i see, you bought a $300, '68 fender that won't fit any '69 parts.
'67 & '68 have the sloped hood. '68 & '69 have the same grill, but the '68 grill surround and fenders are different than '69 because of the sloped hood.

That's as much as I know and I may have that wrong

It looks like the core support is GMC only and changed from '68 to '69.
