Usually the farther its apart, the better the overall results but I've seen complete front to rear done in workable sections (focusing on each section).

Pull the front apart & detail things up to the front cab mounts.
Then we focused on the rear half. Same process to the rear cab mounts.
Then, turned attention to the rails/area between the mounts. Turned out way better than I would have thought.
