i hear you on the highway mileage. My turbo LS gets 9mpg and turns 3400rpm+ even with the 3.07 gears.

Years ago, I spent north of $3500 at two different transmission shops trying to get a 700-r4 to hold behind a 11:1 vortec head 383. That motor was just a 400hp motor. That experience soured me from automatic transmissions for a long time. Now the only person I trust to build my transmissions is me. I don't see you having a chance with a radical 434 in front of a 700r4, but maybe parts have improved in 12 years.
