You can get aftermarket ignition system that will work with the coil on plug ignition the LS1 has. Also, step up the power with a LS6 conversion kit to get over 400 hp. Its expensive, like $2,300, but you get the complete heads, intake, cam, rockers , gaskets, etc. to do the whole thing. Make sure you get a 00 up LS1. I know for sure that the 98 blocks can not be bored over but the later ones can. If you scuff a liner in the newer blocks it can be bored out and reused, the 98 blocks can't(this is in the F bodies, not sure about the 97-98 Vette blocks). The Chevy SS is a joke compared to the Lightning and even more compared to the SRT Ram, 500 hp 500 ft/pounds tprque with a real transmission, a manual six speed. Plus the Chevy is ugly in my opinion. The Lightning is supposedly going to be offered with more power and a manual trans also within a couple years from what I have heard. Wish Chevy would actually build something that would compete with those other two trucks.
