Shoot me if I'm wrong -- I took Basic Electricity & Electronics at NAS Memphis 47 years ago -- but the silver stripe indicates the Positive side of the Diode's polarity.
--Strike That -- dmjlambert says it's the Negative.
I Stand Corrected.
