Mask will be fine but get a full face visor - just a cheap one - or you will be removing bits of skin along with the rust.
My get up of choice for blasting is:-
Old Hoody.
Beany Cap
Ear Defenders
Mask
Old welding helmet with new perspex in the old hole!
