That's good info. It is strange the things they would do to get parts off the shelves. They did weird stuff all the way up through the 72s as well. On my 72 GMC the front clip is faded and it has black primer under it. Initially I thought maybe it had had a front clip swapped from another truck. Now, I'm wondering if they used different primers as well? Probably not though. This truck probably was facing into the wind or something.
I really love your 68 though. I never used to be a buddy bucket guy but they sure have grown on me. Go figure since they are so cheap now.
