I believe he did a 'new' FI spec (1987) pass side tank w/the proper lines etc & is using the drivers side as an aux tank. Motor runs off of the pass side 'main' tank (supply & return). Driver side 'auxiliary' tank carries the extra capacity & utilizes a transfer pump arrangement to refill the main tank when the level drops to low level. Auxiliary pump is just a 12v switched source & only used for the transfer. Eliminates the need for the high-pressure dual supply/return pollack valve complexity.
