Funny; my dad had a similar story with his then new ‘86 Z28. (not an IROC) he and some buddies were out partying and they realized they were running low on booze. In Virginia at the time they stopped selling alcohol at midnight. It was 11:50 and they were 15 minutes from the nearest convenience store. The jumped in his Z28 and hammered down. He said the speedo was buried and they got all it had out of it. He said they made the 15 minute trip in about 6-7. He guessed they were doing between 130-140 the whole way. They got their booze his was just a carbed 305; not even a TPI. He said the front end was really light at that speed. I’m sure it probably didn’t have Z rated tires… bunch of crazies!

I got some progress made on the car. I will update soon.
