Your switch may have been replaced with a later switch but if you have the '67 only spacer and bezel it should still install correctly. The notches in the key will be down and the poke hole to release the lock cylinder will be at the 2 o'clock position with the key removed.

EDIT: I rotated your picture. It almost looks like you are removing your key in the accessory position. If you turn the key so it is straight up and down can you easily remove it?
