Re: 70 K10 the Teal Deal
While I am driving the truck and finishing up on the interior items over the next week or so I wanted to do a little project today to move the ball forward. Decided to refurbish the gear shift knobs. I started with pulling them off and cleaning really well with some soap and water and a scrub brush. Needed to get 50 years of grime off before trying to repaint the patterns.
After all was dry I wiped down with some Acetone and then wiped down really good with wax-n-grease remover. Then sprayed some gloss white paint into the cap of the spray paint can and painted the area with a brush a few times over to fill the pattern and not to worry about getting paint outside of the pattern. Once that dried for a few hours out in the sun I started to wet sand over the top with 2000 grit wet-n-dry paper soaked in soapy water. Then moved on to 1000 grit and finished it up with some McGuiar's cleaner wax on the 3" orbital buffer.
Looks way better now and only took about 15 minutes of my time today. Now just need to finish up the other one on the transfer case.
