Steve, they make 2 kinds of RMS. One straight and one staggard. My understanding is the staggard one allows the 2 halves of the seal to land NOT on the same line as bearing caps.... supposedly being a better seal. IDK, have not done a 2 piece before which is why I asked what is the "preferred" seal type for 2 piece. With that said...just putting in a standard 2 piece...you could put one end up further in the top which would bring the other side down into the lower. Thought that is how they did the old rope type on reinstalls???

Right now the leak is very minimal, few drops and nothing that affects oil level. Motor uses no oil otherwise. Currently just have a pan under truck and not always a drip, usually just after several hours of drive and then its only a few drops. My OCD though does not tolerate any leaks of any kind....but I may subside until or if it gets worse
