Silicone spray into the channel might be a little better than grease. I see it at my local hardware store and at the auto parts store too.

When I formed the channel to the glass on my '49 I noticed it kinked the sides a bit and wouldn't conform to the radius of the door.

I made a form out of 1/4" plywood for just the corners and made the radius slightly smaller than the door so when the channel had 'spring-back' from forming it matched the radius of the window/door in the corners.

I also put the channel over the plywood and used a hammer with a plastic face to flatten the kinks in the radius of the channels so it left enough room for the glass.
