That IS interesting, because my '87 SPID DOES have the friendly name descriptions.

All square SUVs were built in Flint (as supported by the OP's SPID, which shows a VIN code of

H = 1987 model year
F = Flint Assembly plant
500xxx = sequential portion of VIN)

So - to summarize - two vehicles built in the same model year in the same assembly plant down two different lines: two different SPID styles.

Mine's a Chevy, his is a GMC. Maybe that's the difference?

Or maybe when during the model year it was built? Mine was built in September of '86.
