I just watched the video, it's quite good. As for the spring, I don't know for sure if yours came with one or not. But, I don't think it would matter if you don't have one. The spring would just preload the joint, maybe to keep it from rattling. Would not be a function or safety issue without it. I might order one of those boot kits, glad you found that.
