Okay, thanks - but I'm ignorant: when was that?

Basically every 5.7 Vortec has this problem?

I want to replace my 1989 K1500 xcab "ranch truck" with a K/20 or K2500 single cab, manual/gas. Anywhere from 1973 to 2006, depending on price and condition.
