That's what got me. The previous owner did run a new wire to a relay. I checked it before and had a strong 12 volts there. Prior to getting the new ring gear in I could only pull start it and that's not good for trying to diagnose a problem. When I fired it up for the first time yesterday it ran for 30 seconds then died and wouldn't re-fire. That's when I went on the hunt all over again for the electrical gremlins. I'm as happy as a squirrel in a nut factory right now.
