New isn't always better. The Asian terminals in the sockets on my 72 were popping out and shorting. I replaced the housing w/ used OEM parts. As I recall the sockets were sort of crimped to the housing anc not easily removable.
Maybe you can use pliers to squeeze the sockets where the pins lock?
