Just a guess bad ground cab to frame. It might trying to ground speed cable.
I would try to check all your + connection mostly all your - connection make sure there clean & good wires too.
Then check for a draw.

Was a 77 454 w/308 gear. Taken out 550 lbs. up front with motor clip change.
