Right now it looks like I won't be needing the drag springs after all. I finished up assembling the bed (for years the bed floor wasn't attached to the sides) which really stiffened up the truck (along with polyurethane body mounts) and put on a set of Firestone Indy 500's and found out their reputation for stickiness is well deserved. I'm able to launch from a dead stop without tire spin for the first time in Old Yeller's history and that's with an additional 150-200hp at peak output.
