Product review (oil pan Gasket)

I just wanted to pass this along. It is more for anyone who has a oil pan leak they cant get rid of.

I purchased Fel Pro's (1 peice oil pan gasket kit) It comes complete with 1 rubber gasket, new oil pan bolts, and 4 plastic dowel plugs that you screw into the block to hold the gasket and pan in place during re-assembly.

I just made sure the block was clean and dry, then I stripped the old gasket off the pan and made sure the pan's surface was nice and straight. They recommend putting just a dab of silicon on the corner of the timing cover and block, and the rear main cap and block then bolt the pan on. The oil leak is gone. I changed it while the motor was still in the truck and with the aligning dowels it was really easy to do.

The only drawback is the kit is more than double the cost of the old 4 peice gaskets, but for me just knowing that I dont have to go back under there and the leak is gone...it's totally worth it.
