1972 ended the use of the Eaton HO52 axle in GM vehicles. It was only available in 4.11 and 4.56:1 ratios. I don't believe there are any aftermarket gearsets.
Your best choice would be convert to an overdrive transmission for better drivability.
In my Suburban, I installed a '75 GM corporate 14 bolt with a 3.73:1 gear and a 700R4 overdrive transmission.
Perhaps not the greatest combination for performance but it works well for me.
