The chroming will not chip or peel if you have a good chrome job done ! Usually the going price for a fair (and i will explain "fair" later on) good chroming job is around 150.00 each hinge. I have had prices of up to 300.00 each ,now,that was with a company that had a spring streacher to get the chrome all the way down and all the way around the coil spring. To much for me,so i thought about the peeling on the coil springs myself and went to the "fair" priced company. The company that was 150.00 didn't have a spring streacher,so there for the chroming didn't get all around the and inside the coil spring and there for i didn't have to worry about the peeling and i think my hinges turned out pretty nice !
