Caster will improve keeping the truck going straight down the road but will have no effect on the ride, and yes, I used angled shims because it's the only way to adjust caster.
Spring stiffness will dictate how hard of ride you will get, and shock selection will determine how bouncy of a ride you'll get. That's a pretty basic explanation because all components will affect handling/ride. Running your tires at full recommended pressure will take some of the bouncyness out, but it's just the nature of these short wheelbased vehicles.
