AutoZone has alldata. they have a procedure for this. unless you follow it you might as well throw the dist. in the glovebox.

have them look it up under
powertrain management
ingition system
service and repair
distributor installation

BTW, I remove the factory limiter for dist. rotation and install a dist. clamp for a Chevy small block. but here is the clincher. you NEED a scan tool to set the cam retard. specs are 0* +- 2* @ 1000 RPM
