My 68 Impala with a 327 ran a 195 tstat as does my 75 C10 with a 350. The 195 may have become standard when the mfgs started dealing with some of the 1968+ emissions regs. A hotter engine burns the gas a bit better.

My 75 is set at an initial of 12 but I never verified the indicator 0 is matched with true TDC. Any more and it is hard to start hot. Doesn't really matter what the real number is, I can't add anymore.
