Example: 255/70r15

255 = section width. Take that number and divide by 25.4 This will give you the width of the tire in inches. In this case, 10.03

Now, multiply the tire width by the aspect ratio. (Second number) "70" so we use .70. That just means the sidewall of the tire is "70%" of the width. So, 10.03 x .70 = 7.02" that's the height of the sidewall in inches. Of course you'll have two sidewalls, one at the top and one at the bottom. So..x2.

255÷25.4×.70x2+15 gives you the overall height of the tire in inches. 29.05" tall

Of course if it's say.. a 17" wheel you'd use 17 instead.


Try 275/60r15 and see what you get. Either would look great it just depends on what look you want for your truck. Lower and wider? Or more sidewall and not hardly as wide. Your truck, your decision.
