To my knowledge most stock castings are stock, stock as in came from the factory meant to perform like a factory engine.
This is not a bad thing, they are designed to operate in the lower rpm range creating velocity in the lower rpm range. They do perform if you want your torque.
Everybody wants HP, why?, we drive trucks, not Camaros. So many toss these to the scrapper to let China make something of it.
This I do know, when you scrap metal on the West Coast, you get low dollar for it and Chinese crap in return, your exporting wealth. There is no Remelt facilities out here.
So look at the bigger picture, make something work, like the factory did. Or just go out and buy some AFR style heads and build some serious power.
Either way you will not get any MPG. I do not make a car payment, just a fuel payment now to American gas companies due to the Baaken and Tar Sands Oil fields opened up!
