Don't stress getting it too far back if its causing you any issues. While a central weight balance is in-theory ideal; making the engine fit in a way that you can work on it comfortably, and have clearance for coils/knock sensors/wiring etc is the real priority.

Nothing sucks more than doing all that work, and then having to do MORE work to relocate coils etc.
