I wanted to be able to remove the shifter without removing the trans from the car. To accomplish this, I cut the hole big enough to get it out and built a removable cover. There are four nuts welded to the underside of the tunnel that ar used to attach the cover. The welded in nuts, along with short pan head bolts, makes for very little intrusion into the tunnel.
Since this style of transmission was in Mustangs for several years, I figured the best place to find a shifter seal would be in the Mustang world. And I just happened to be right. This one is for fox bodys and worked really well for my application. All I had to do was grind the lip of of it so that I could form it to fit my tunnel.
