You will only have issues if you live in an emmisions state that tests older vehicles. You can take a diesel vehicle and put a gas engine in it and not have to have emmisions testing...but you will have to have the vehicle re-certified as a diesel if you go from a gas vehicle to a diesel vehicle if it faklls under the years that they test.
Other than the emmisions issue...there are no other legal issues
