Do I need to also add an external trans cooler in addition to the radiator trans cooler?

I've searched a lot of threads on this site and I'm still confused.
Thanks
A 383 and TH400 will not overtax either a tank based cooler or a standalone cooler.

If you have the space to place an aftermarket trans cooler so it has sufficient air flow, I usually install one....

How its plumbed is always a matter of personal preference...

Unless requested by an owner, I always install the aftermarket cooler as a stand alone cooler, totally bypassing the radiator cooler....why?

Doing so eliminates the possibility of coolant making its way into the trans by a faulty cooler setup inside a radiator tank.

(I also cap off where the original cooler line fittings are in the radiator tank)

I can see you are in Austin TX...so extreme cold wont be an issue....

In colder climates sometimes a customer will want the radiator cooler retained in the system,,,,but they are always warned of possible issues.

Hope this helps...
