pearl is what glows in the sun when looking at a paint job like mine and that other truck you posted. The paint is done in 3 stages basecoat,topcoat,clear coat
basecoat
topcoat/candy
clearcoat
the base is an opaque background color, thats all. It is there so when you paint the candy you dont see different shades and such due to different colors behind the candy.
The candy is a semi transparent paint that goes over the basecoat, it gives that really vibrant non flat looking color. Pearl is mixed in with this.
Finally the clearcoat is what protects the paint from foreign debree it makes the paint really shiney and if you wetsand it you can get a mirror finish.
