Don't feel too bad, My dad's firebird was brought to my house in 2010. I managed to strip it down and buy a lot of nice parts for it. Realized I won't have the time I would need to devote to a total resto for another 20 years, so I bought a completely rust free original 68 firebird.
My dad want's to try to tackle it again, so he's picking it up in November. The last time it ran and I went for a ride in it was 1989, I was 8. Still remember it. Driving the 68 was the first time I'd ever actually driven a first gen.
