When you say " stay about an inch or so off the ground " exactly what are you referring to? Are you talking about the frame, the rockers, or your crossmember?

In the event that you are not aware, the stock crossmember is the lowest point of your front suspension. If you lower your truck using bags and you modify the inner fenders the first thing to touch the ground will be your A-arm.
