You could make it work, but you would need to remove the bellhousing mount crossmember from your truck, then purchase or fabricate a mount for the rear of that transmission. You will also need something to convert the electric speedo sensor to manual if you want to keep the stock gauges. The s10 transmissions that you can bolt to your factory bellhousing is from the mid to late 80s
