Same here, but more city-ish driving and I'm "averaging" 23mpg (about 80% stop and go 45mph and under) and I think you meant 2.2L?? I still don't have a full highway tank, but I'm guessing it should be 26-28mpg.

I did A LOT of research on this about 4 years ago. I wanted a ZR2 ex cab 4.3L 5 spd something awful bad, but after all my research it turned out that I was better off buying a full size. An S-10 ZR2 or 4x4 get only a mpg or so better "city" than a fullsize and a couple better highway. Back in '04 they were almost the same price, so I went with a Z71 ex-cab.

The "revised" EPA rating for an S10 4.3L 4x4 is 14/19 for the automatic, 5spd is 15/20.
