I rebuilt the 305 that was in my '85 Pontiac Parisienne wagon and stuffed it in my '68 Skylark. With the 700 trans, I got 18.5 MPG in rush hour traffic. That low first gear made it a great hole shot car, even with the 2.73 axle. I put in a little Edelbrock cam and added a 600 CFM carb and the smallest cam Edelbrock sells. It really could have used a 3.42 or so axle, though. I sold it and the guy who bought did that.
