Re: Is There a Non Sincro 1st gear 3 Spd in a 67/68
I don't claim to be an expert on the subject but this is what I've experienced in 30+ years of hands on with these trucks. Never seen a 4 bolt side cover non synchro 1st column shift 3speed in any C series '66 and up, 6 or V8. I looked over at the GM heritage site for transmission lineup for '67. Shows what you found: base 6 cylinder 3 speed C10 uses a different ' synchromesh ' then all of the other C 10-30 series. The description of the three speeds available is very vague. They show a single picture to represent all of the three speeds available and it happens to be the older 4 bolt Muncie pictured (?!) Makes no sense at all (?)
I own a very typical almost zero option '67 C10 with the base 250 6cylinder and three speed on the column. My truck has the Warner (NOT a Saginaw NOT a 4 bolt Muncie) three speed column shift that I believe has an 8 bolt side cover and does not have a synchronized first gear. Everything about this truck looks completely original and unmolested. I'll try to get some pictures of this if I'm at the house this weekend.
