Man, that is so biitchin'!! Great idea. I wish I would have thought of that.

I am guessing the no fan thing works back east, because Ryan is not the first person I have heard of running without one, but out here in the land of the big hills and warm summers, I don't think I would be trying it. I know on our little journey around the southwest this summer, my fan came on MANY times for engine temperature alone. I will be honest and say that usually it comes on for A/C pressure, but often it is for engine temp--especially when we are out on the trail not moving very fast. Now usually I can keep the Horton off by running the dual electrics on the I/C, but I would not recommend pulling any of the passes unloaded without one.
