Never knew what caused it..... only learned about the motor mount issues years after I traded the 'Vette.
Reversing the throttle rod will do the same thing as it can hit the bottom of the air cleaner where it extends beyond the carburetor. The threaded portion, of the rod, should be on the firewall side.
Don't ask me how I know.
