Okay, so here's a little bit of an update. I started messing with the tag light idea last year I think but had never posted any pics. Now that the roll pan is about ready to re-install, I'll show you what I had in mind. By the way, this is one of those lights made for roll pans. You can still find them new, but all I've ever seen is the old lighting. I wanted something better, thus went with LED.
With the clear plastic housing removed, this is what you have:
