The dealer will tell you that, however, if they try pulling that on you, get it in writing.
Fram filed a lawsuit on that and won. If your dealer tells you this, then they are required to supply you a filter at no charge to you.
Fram totally sucks, and the OEMs hate them just as much, but don't let the dealer screw you over.
