well, take a close look at your carburetor, shouldn't be squirting gas out, not to mention a potential fire hazard! EEk!

As for you tail lights~ is there existing wiring where the lights would go? Do you have a test light? You may want to buy one and have it on hand for checking wiring to see if particular wires are Hot, or not. You may have to start at the fuse box, trace wires under the truck, check for cut wires, bad connections, etc..
